Stetson's Waugh Will Resign at End of Season
Wyoming has some company.
However, Stetson won’t make its coaching move official until after the season when coach Derek Waugh will step down.
Waugh will fulfill the final year of his two-year extension signed in November of 2009 as an assistant AD.
The Hatters are 7-21 overall and 5-12 in Atlantic Sun play. Waugh is 119-190 overall.
“We certainly appreciate the hard work and dedication that Derek has brought to the basketball program over the years,” said Stetson athletic director Jeff Altier. “We are pleased that Derek will move into athletics administration here at Stetson as he fulfills his contract obligation.”
Waugh took over eight games into the 2000-01 campaign as the youngest Division 1 head coach in the country.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity that Stetson University gave me as a 29 year old,” Waugh said in a statement.
