If reading the tea leaves proves anything, it may show the NFL world where the Carolina Panthers plan to go with their second-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
At the University of South Carolina's Pro Day Tuesday, all 32 NFL teams were in attendance. However, the Panthers were the heaviest presence with 10 scouts, executives and coaches in attendance, Jordan Reid of ESPN reported on X.
At South Carolina's Pro Day is wide receiver Xavier Legette, who has been an interest of the Panthers since the NFL's scouting combine.
Legette has the physical tools to be successful at the NFL level.
It is a long-known reality that the Panthers are looking for a true No. 1 receiver to pair with sophomore-year quarterback Bryce Young.
Legette appears to be the apple of Dan Morgan's eye.

Already the Panthers have met with Legette twice at the Senior Bowl in Alabama, Joseph Person of The Athletic reported in February.
Legette can step in and make a difference in the Panthers wide receiver room immediately.
From 2019 to 2023, he recorded 113 catches for 1,678 yards and 12 touchdowns for South Carolina.
At 6-foot-1, 223 pounds, Legette brings conventional size. At the 2024 NFL Draft Combine, he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash while scoring a 40-inch verticle jump.
He has been a pre-draft process darling. With the Panthers in attendance during his South Carolina Pro Day, the writing is on the wall.
If he is available when the Panthers pick in the second round, there is no doubt who Morgan will select.
