Swerve Strickland has responded to Grayson Waller.

Waller took a shot at AEW earlier this month when promoting WWE's show on May 17 in Jacksonville. During an appearance on Going Ringside with News4Jax, Waller said:

Finally, some good wrestling in Jacksonville. I feel like it’s been years since we’ve seen some really good wrestling in Jacksonville.

On Wednesday, new AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland appeared on Going Ringside as well to promote Dynamite's return to Jacksonville later tonight. During the show, Strickland was asked if he felt Waller's comments were a veiled shot at AEW.

Strickland responded:

Obviously (it was a subtle dig at AEW) and I love the subtleties. And this person that said that, congratulations on their championship gold, amazing. You were awesome when you were watching me in the seats when I was being a champion over where you were as well. So, happy to see where you've progressed to but let’s be real, we are the best wrestling not just in Jacksonville but anywhere on the globe. In the world, and I stand on business on that.

Strickland and Waller were both on the NXT roster in 2021 when Strickland held the North American Championship.

Strickland is scheduled for a match on tonight's AEW Dynamite from Jacksonville. He'll wrestle Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family in a title eliminator match.
